Immediate past Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, has emerged winner of the All Progressives Congress, APC, primary election for the Kogi Central Senatorial seat ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The primary election, held on Monday, featured two other aspirants contesting alongside the former governor.
The contenders included APC Diaspora Secretary, Momoh Obaro, and Ibrahim Yakubu Adoke.
Bello’s emergence comes amid recent political tension and widespread speculation within party circles suggesting that his screening process may have faced complications, leading to uncertainty over his eligibility to participate in the contest.
Despite the rumours, the former governor secured victory in the primary, positioning himself as the APC candidate for the Kogi Central Senatorial election in 2027.
