Pep Guardiola has blamed fatigue and a lack of pace for Manchester City’s 1-1 draw against AFC Bournemouth, a result that confirmed Arsenal FC as Premier League champions for the 2025 and 2026 season.

City were held at the Vitality Stadium on Tuesday night after Kroupi Jr gave Bournemouth the lead before Erling Haaland scored a late equaliser for the visitors.

The result ended Manchester City’s hopes of taking the title race to the final day of the season.

Speaking after the match, Guardiola admitted his side struggled to match Bournemouth’s intensity and speed, while also pointing to a demanding schedule following their recent FA Cup final victory over Chelsea FC.

He said, “Today we missed that pace, situation that is required to play against Bournemouth. They are a really good side.

“The travel to London from the Chelsea game meant it was not a really good final. Our calendar in this part of the season was really tough.”
