An African Democratic Congress, ADC, presidential aspirant, Rotimi Amaechi, has dismissed concerns about an internal crisis within the party.
Amaechi stated that he would remain in the party and confront any challenges rather than abandon it if disagreements arise.
The former Minister of Transportation made the remarks after appearing before the ADC presidential screening committee on Wednesday in Abuja.
Speaking to journalists after the exercise, he said: “Running away from the party is not the solution because wherever you want to go, you will face the same elements. What is the solution then? The solution is to fight them. So, when you say crisis, I don’t believe there is a crisis in the ADC.”
Ahead of the party’s presidential nomination process, there had been reports suggesting possible internal disagreements and leadership tensions within the ADC.
However, amid the speculation, spokesperson of the party, Bolaji Abdullahi, had earlier dismissed claims of any crisis within the organisation.
It was also reported that former presidential candidates, Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso, had defected to the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, further fueling political discussions around opposition realignments.
