Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has emerged as the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress ahead of the 2027 general election.
The outcome of the party’s presidential primary was announced late Wednesday at the Congress Hall of Transcorp Hilton in Abuja.
Returning officer Tunde Ogbeha declared Atiku winner of the contest after the conclusion of collation.
Atiku secured 1,846,370 votes to defeat former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi and former Managing Director of the defunct FSB International Bank Mohammed Hayatu-Deen.
Amaechi polled 504,117 votes, while Hayatu Deen recorded 177,120 votes in the exercise.
