The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has stated that it has not officially released the results of its recently concluded primary elections across the country, dismissing reports circulating about candidate lists in Kano State.

The clarification was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, following claims that some candidates allegedly loyal to the party’s vice presidential candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, had been removed from the Kano list.

The party urged members of the public to disregard any such lists currently in circulation, stressing that no official results have been published at the national or state level.

“The party has not released any official results of primary elections in any state,” the statement said, calling for caution in the interpretation of unverified reports.

The statement also confirmed that a delegation of the national leadership of the Kwankwasiya Movement recently met with the national leader of the party, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, along with other senior officials of the NDC.

According to the party, the meeting focused on resolving disagreements between the Kwankwasiya Movement and legacy party officials in Kano State.

“The close door meeting was aimed at resolving the issues between the Kwankwasiya Movement and the legacy officials of NDC in Kano State.

“Senator Dickson and the NDC leadership are mediating in the process in order to enhance inclusion and participation by every party member.

“The NDC leadership will not impose candidates in Kano State, and indeed across the nation as the party cherishes the virtues of internal democracy.

“The meeting which lasted several hours was productive,” the statement added.

The party maintained that efforts are ongoing to strengthen internal democracy and ensure broad participation in its candidate selection process across all levels.
