A Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Ken Ahia, has expressed solidarity with the Member representing Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency, Hon. Amobi Ogah, describing his current challenges as a defining moment in his political journey.

Following a telephone conversation with the federal lawmaker, Ahia disclosed that Hon. Ogah remains in good spirits, resolute, and undeterred despite the circumstances surrounding recent developments.

According to the Senior Advocate, the challenges confronting the lawmaker are not his alone but are shared by the people of Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency who overwhelmingly entrusted him with their mandate.

“You are not alone,” Ahia stated, assuring Hon. Ogah of the continued support of his constituents and political allies.

He described the situation as a “political baptism,” noting that every leader who aspires to make a meaningful impact inevitably faces moments that test courage, conviction, and resilience.

Ahia also used the opportunity to emphasize the importance of respecting lawful mechanisms for the protection of individual reputation. He noted that the legal system provides both civil and, where justified by law and facts, criminal remedies for persons who believe their reputation has been unlawfully damaged.

According to him, such legal remedies are available to every Nigerian citizen without discrimination and should not be viewed through partisan or political lenses.

The Senior Advocate further observed that those who have consistently made serious allegations of corruption, fraud, or other criminal conduct against Governor Alex Otti without credible evidence should reflect on the importance of responsible public discourse.

He argued that if one political actor is entitled to seek legal protection where reputation is allegedly harmed, then the same right should equally be available to every other citizen, including the Governor.

“The law must be applied fairly and consistently, not selectively,” he maintained.

Reaffirming his political support, Ahia declared his continued commitment to the Labour Party and its elected representatives, assuring Hon. Amobi Ogah that he enjoys the unwavering backing of his supporters.

He expressed confidence that although the lawmaker’s political journey may present further challenges, the ultimate verdict would be determined by the people through the democratic process.

Ahia concluded by urging political actors to conduct themselves responsibly, stressing that while freedom of expression remains a fundamental constitutional right, it should not be used as a shield for reckless or unfounded allegations against others.

He added that the same legal standards applauded today should be accepted and respected by all whenever the need arises.
