The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Imo State, Austin Onyedebelu, has declared that the party will mobilize aggressively to ensure President Bola Ahmed Tinubu secures re election in the 2027 presidential poll.
Speaking during a stakeholders’ meeting involving the State Working Committee and APC officials from the nine local government areas and 105 wards in Owerri Zone, Onyedebelu emphasized that unity remains the party’s strongest tool for electoral victory.
The meeting drew attendance from LGA party executives, ward executives, elected local government chairmen, councillors, and other key party officials.
Addressing members, Onyedebelu said the party leadership is determined to secure overwhelming victories for President Tinubu and all APC candidates across the state.
“We must fight like a wounded lion” to deliver President Tinubu in 2027, he said, stressing that commitment at every level of the party structure will be critical.
He warned party officials that they would be held accountable for electoral outcomes in their respective areas.
“If you lose our votes we are going to hold you responsible. Don’t tell us why you failed after the election.
“Tell us now what will make you fail so we can address it. If there is anything or any leader that will sabotage our efforts, you must tell us now for us to address it.”
Onyedebelu urged party loyalists to focus on genuine grassroots mobilization, insisting that electoral success can only come through real voter support rather than political shortcuts.
According to him, unity remains essential to achieving victory at the polls.
He also cautioned members against anti party activities, warning that supporting opposition candidates would ultimately work against their interests.
“If you support the opposition to win against your party, when they begin to share the proceeds of victory, they will first reward their own party members before remembering you.”
The APC chairman further described the 2027 general election as a critical opportunity for Owerri Zone in its ambition to produce the next governor of Imo State.
Earlier, State Secretary Onyekachi Ibezim said the meeting was convened to strengthen coordination between the State Working Committee and grassroots party executives ahead of the election cycle.
He noted that ward and LGA officers remain the operational backbone of the party and will play a decisive role in determining APC’s success.
Speaking on behalf of Owerri Zone, State Vice Chairman Justus Ogu assured the leadership that the zone would deliver strong results for the party.
He pledged that Owerri Zone would secure victory for the APC from the presidential race down to the State House of Assembly elections.
