Former Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, has claimed that President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress, APC, are unsettled by the growing influence of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, ahead of the 2027 general election.
Tambuwal made the remark while welcoming the former Chairman of Tangaza Local Government Area, Isa Salihu Bashir Kalanjeni, into the ADC after his resignation from the APC.
He alleged that the ruling party had made repeated attempts to frustrate the ADC but had failed.
Tambuwal described President Tinubu as an outgoing president and said:
“President Bola Tinubu, who is leaving office, has been staying up late because of the ADC. Everywhere he turns, he sees Atiku Abubakar.
“They have kept trying to stop the ADC from being made public, but God has prevented those plans from working.”
The former governor also criticised the Federal Government’s handling of insecurity and other national challenges, saying more should have been done to address the country’s problems.
Tambuwal further stated that many politicians were reluctant to join the ADC because of concerns over the pressure associated with leaving the ruling APC.
“Most politicians who leave the ruling APC join other political parties instead of joining the ADC.
“Only people who care about the country’s interests, not their own, will join the ADC,” he said.
