The self proclaimed Director General of the alleged non existent Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council, PFIPC, Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, has been arrested after a Federal High Court in Abuja issued a warrant for his arrest over allegations of forgery, fraud and impersonation.

Justice Mohammed Umar ordered Adeyemi’s arrest on Tuesday after he failed to appear in court for his arraignment on an eight count charge marked FHC ABJ CR 562 2025.

The order followed an oral application by police counsel, Wisdom Madaki, after the defendant failed to appear despite the matter being listed for hearing.

Adeyemi, alongside two other defendants identified as “Femi Surname Unknown” and “Anu Surname Unknown,” is facing charges bordering on forgery, impersonation and related offences. The charge was filed by the police on November 27, 2025.

When the matter was called, none of the defendants appeared in court.

Responding to the application for a bench warrant, Adeyemi’s lawyer, Genesis Francis, told the court that his client feared for his life and had written to President Bola Tinubu, adding that Adeyemi wanted to remain alive to face trial.

In response, Justice Umar said the court would “help him to stay alive.”

After hearing submissions from both parties, the judge directed all security agencies to arrest Adeyemi wherever he is found and adjourned the case until September 30 for arraignment.

According to reports by TVC, Adeyemi was arrested shortly after the court issued the warrant.

The case stems from allegations that Adeyemi falsely presented himself as the Director General of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council, an agency authorities say does not exist.

Before the court proceedings, Adeyemi had failed to appear for his scheduled arraignment, despite previously insisting in a television interview that he was not hiding from law enforcement agencies.

He had claimed that his absence from public view was due to alleged threats to his life and maintained that he paid N400 million through a proxy to secure his appointment as Director General. He also alleged that the funds were paid to President Bola Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, an allegation that has been strongly denied.

Adeyemi further claimed that those who lent him the N400 million had reported him to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, over the unpaid debt.

Witnesses listed by the prosecution include the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, Paul Emmanuel, Jeremiah Imoukhede, Ituah Sylvester, civil servants from the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation, Akimbo Shola, Deputy Superintendent of Police Adamu Balongu, Ojo Victor, Omeh Amarachukwu, Wakili Saidu, Mrs Joy Ngwoke and Ven Okoriko.

The police are also expected to tender documentary evidence including the investigation report, Gbajabiamila’s petition dated October 17, 2025, Adeyemi’s alleged fake presidential appointment letter dated March 8, 2024, correspondence sent to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, approvals relating to Central Bank of Nigeria accounts, documents concerning self accounting approval from the Accountant General of the Federation and other records linked to the alleged operations of the fictitious agency.

Investigators allege that Adeyemi operated the fake agency from the second floor of the Federal Secretariat Complex, Phase III, Abuja.

President Bola Tinubu had earlier directed the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, to carry out a comprehensive investigation into the activities of the alleged fictitious agency.
