MRS filling stations, a major partner of Dangote Refinery, have remained shut for at least seven days following recent disruptions in fuel supply and rising petrol prices.
Checks in Abuja and surrounding areas showed that MRS outlets have been without Premium Motor Spirit, PMS, since July 17, 2026.
A manager at one of the MRS filling stations, who requested anonymity, confirmed the situation.
“We have not had fuel supply since last Thursday. However, we hope to get supply today (Friday) following the resumption of Dangote Refinery’s gantry sales in naira,” he said.
Dangote Refinery had suspended petrol gantry sales in naira on July 15, 2026, before resuming sales on Thursday at a revised price of N1,215 per litre, up from N1,175 per litre.
The refinery’s decision to resume the sale of refined petroleum products in naira has helped reduce uncertainty in Nigeria’s downstream petroleum sector.
Despite the move, depot owners and petroleum marketers have increased petrol prices at least twice within the past seven days.
Petrol is currently selling between N1,300 and N1,340 per litre in parts of Abuja.
