Social Democratic Party, SDP, presidential candidate Adewole Adebayo has outlined what he described as practical solutions to Nigeria’s persistent security, governance, and socio economic challenges ahead of the 2027 general election.
Adebayo spoke on Wednesday at the Arewa Security Summit in Kaduna, where he said Nigeria’s problems can be solved if citizens elect leaders who are committed to accountability and good governance.
According to him, his administration would provide Nigerians with “a final solution, and a fine solution” to the country’s challenges through responsible leadership and policies focused on the welfare of the people.
He stressed that the foundation for solving Nigeria’s problems lies in the electorate recognising the power of their votes in a democratic system.
“We are not as powerless as we look. We are living in a democracy. Therefore, nobody can come to power except through the will of the people, both in the North and the southern part of the country,” he said.
Adebayo urged Nigerians to elect leaders at every level of government who understand the nation’s challenges and are prepared to address them effectively.
“If we choose leaders who understand our issues, they will work for us. If we appreciate them, support them, encourage them, pray for them and hold them accountable, they will respond,” he added.
The SDP presidential candidate noted that no society’s problems are permanent, arguing that every generation has faced challenges but achieved progress through responsible leadership and collective determination.
He said democracy offers Nigerians the opportunity to build a more prosperous and organised nation.
Adebayo also called for increased investment from both government and the private sector, particularly in agriculture, stating that large scale farming could generate employment for thousands of Nigerians while driving economic growth.
He further identified corruption as one of the greatest barriers to national development, insisting that meaningful progress would remain impossible unless it is decisively addressed.
“It doesn’t matter how you design or refine the system. If you don’t deal with the issue of corruption, the problems will remain.
“We are not as powerless as we think. If we follow the right path for Nigeria, we can overcome these challenges,” he said.
