The Accord Party governorship candidate and incumbent Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, has emerged with the highest number of votes following the conclusion of collation across the state.
Adeleke polled a total of 511,067 votes in the just concluded governorship election.
His closest rival, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress, APC, secured 444,815 votes, while the African Democratic Congress, ADC, finished third with 17,180 votes.
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has completed the collation of results from all the local government areas in Osun State.
With the process concluded, attention has now shifted to the official declaration of the winner by INEC.
A total of 15 political parties participated in the governorship election.
With Adeleke leading by 66,252 votes after statewide collation, the decisive issue is whether INEC’s final declaration can still be affected by any unresolved legal or procedural challenge.
