President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has departed Paris, France, for Nigeria, bringing an end to his working vacation in Europe after spending at least 30 days outside the country.
Tinubu left Abuja on August 30 for his annual leave and was initially expected to return after 21 days. However, his return was rescheduled at least twice.
His prolonged absence attracted criticism from opposition parties, which demanded clarification on his whereabouts and health status.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, September 29, the President’s spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, confirmed that Tinubu had departed Paris and was on his way back to Nigeria.
According to Onanuga, the President’s aircraft “is expected to touch down at Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos, later this evening.
“The Nigerian leader chose to fly to Lagos first to honour the memory of Chief MKO Abiola, the martyr of Nigeria’s democratic struggle”.
