The Ndume Otuka and Amaoforo Ibeku clans in Umuahia north local government area of Abia state have agreed to work collectively towards actualizing the dream of an Ndume indigene occupying the seat of Umuahia east constituency of the Abia House of Assembly come 2019 election.
This resolutions was taken at an enlarged meeting of Ndume Otuka ibeku and Amaforo ibeku held in the palatial residence of Mr. Chidi Nwaubani which were attended by thousands of ndume indigenes including the Village heads of all communities in Ndume and Amaforo, Youth Presidents.
During the meeting, indigenes took turn to speak on the underdevelopment and marginalization of Ndume clan by successive government in the state, vowed to put aside political affiliations and ensure an Ndume son or daughter emerge as lawmaker of the Abia assembly.
In their separate speeches, Mr. Okezie obasi, Leonard Ogbonna and Tony Onyenweaku urged Ndume people to bury their differences (if any) to ensure Abia lawmaker of Ndume extraction to take a shot at the House of Assembly.
According to them,”Our people should put aside their differences.And looking at the mammoth of Ndume indigenes as you can see here for yourself this meeting, you will know that Ndume people are out to take what belongs to them”.
“Does it mean that there is no qualified person in Ndume Otuka to represent the people of Umuahia east constituency?We have given other people enough support. This time around, they should support us”.
” Also, let us make it clear that Ndume and Amaforo has not adopt or endorse anybody for any political position. Our concern is for Ndume indigene to be there at state Assembly “.
Speaking during the meeting, the host, Mr. Wisdom Chidi Nwaubani commended the people of Ndume Otuka and Amaoforo ibeku for their resolute to work together to achieve the project, promising that he would give necessary support to ensure the project is actualized.
The business mogul said he stand where his people(Ndume indigenes) are, and however made a donation of fifty million naira to support the Ndume course.
Meanwhile, Ibeku Youth Assembly has backed the clamour by Ndume clan to produce next lawmaker for Umuahia east constituency of Abia state House of Assembly come 2019.
The youth body in a statement signed by the secretary, Comrade Ihechi Chinedu Zik and made available to journalists in Umuahia on Thursday vowed to resist any move to deny Ndume Otuka ibeku their right of producing next House member of Abia House of Assembly.
The group said it will commence mobilization to ensure Ndume indigene wins the state House of Assembly come 2019.
