We the members of the Igbo progressive agenda have vehemently condemned the recent pronouncements by a former governor of Abia state, Chief Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu on the recent happenings in Igbo land and some other parts of the country over the killings, invasion and arson on our farmlands by suspected Fulani herdsmen.
We are shocked at the assertions credited to Dr. Orji Kalu that the killings and other forms of criminality being carried out across the south east and middle belt regions of Nigeria were the handiwork of embittered politicians.
Such statements in our views as a group is not only irresponsible but unbefitting of a supposed statesman, we want to remind Dr Kalu that it is very wrong, inhuman, cowardly and wicked to play politics with human lives.
What is happening in Nigeria today is something that should call for concern on the part of all of us and it therefore becomes a sign of insensitivity to play politics and make unguarded and provocative statements in the face of wanton destruction of lives and properties of fellow Igbo men and Nigerians in general.
We also find it very shocking that instead of Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu who is seeking the mandate of Ndi Igbo to take him to the senate rather than show empathy and condemn the killings chose to take sides with those who are being suspected to be behind the killings of innocent Nigerians.
That our farms are being burnt and crops destroyed did not attract the sympathy of Dr Orji Kalu, he is rather more interested in showing political support for personal benefits and scoring cheap political capital to the cries of the people.
We still remember the ignominious statement made by Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu when the military invaded the home of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, killing innocent Igbo sons and daughters in the name of Operation Python dance and up until now no one can lay claims to knowing the where abouts of the IPOB leader, whether he is alive or dead except Dr Orji Kalu who declared in a most insensitive manner that he saw Mazi Kanu escape to London through Malaysia.
Such unguarded loud mouthing does not qualify a leader and at such makes Orji Kalu underserving of being made a senator of the federal republic of Nigeria.
