Following the depth of infrastructure collapse that has dotted Abia especially Aba the commercial nerve centre of the state, a cross section of indigenes and residents of the state has called for the quick intervention of the governor to salvage the situation.
The latest call is coming from Aba Urban Renewal Committee. The committee expressed sadness over the media tour recently organised by the governor, describing it as a sham and deliberate ploy to deceive the world while the true situation in Abia points contrary. According to the committee “the governor spent humongous amount inviting journalists outside the state as a public relations gimmick while we the residents know what is truly on ground. If the governor had channeled the resources to tackling infrastructure decay and total lack of it, it would have been an effort worth the while”.
They describe as a sad example the popular Orji Uzor Kalu bridge along Emelogu bypass in Aba which they said is a death trap. The committee went further to advise the governor not to allow the goodwill that heralded his election into office to fizzle away, calling on him to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people especially in the area of infrastructure improvement and urban renewal.
