Students Laments Hike in School Fees, Extortion by Abia State University
Some Students of the Abia Sate University has cried out over the increasing extortion and hike in School fees the management of the University.
A Student of the University who simply gave PUO REPORTS his name as Kingsley Nwankwo said despite the hike in school fees, the University authorities has given every Student of the University Two Weeks ultimatum to pay their School Fees and other Dues or forget their First Semester Exam.
“As I speak with you now,we have been given two weeks to pay all the Fees or forget our First Semester Examination”
It was also gathered that the management of the University are forcing Students of the Institution to pay a Development Fee N50,000 in the midst of the hike In School Fees
For Example,it was learnt that Year One Law Students were asked to Pay, Acceptance Fee of N60,000,Tuition Fees of N112,000,Development Fee N50,000,Accommodation (compulsory) – N40,000,Accreditation Fee N30,000,Another Development for Umuahia Campus N50,000,Faculty N7,000,Students’ Affair N8,000.
The University Authority also made it mandatory for students to Register Newly Introduced GST courses – with N14500 Among other fees Which the Students lamented was too much for a Government owned University.
