Senator Shehu Sani representing Kaduna Central senatorial district in the National Assembly has called on the Nigerian Government to increase the salary of the Prison Service to same level with that of the police.
The senator made this known on his official twitter handle. The 51 years-old said this has become necessary because “Police and the Prisons institutionally compliment each other in law enforcement”.
The civil rights activist added that without uniformity in their salary, the aim of the increase will be defeated. ” Without harmonizing the two,the aim of the one sided increase will be defeated”.
It would be recall that President Muhammadu some days ago approved increase in salary of the police. “I am pleased to make the increase in salary and allowances in the hope that it will increase the performance index of the police and strengthen Nigeria’s internal security system.”
His tweet reads: The salaries of the staff of the Nigerian Prisons should be increased to the same level with that of the police.Without harmonizing the two,the aim of the one sided increase will be defeated. The Police and the Prisons institutionally compliment each other in law enforcement.
