All is now set for the Stakeholders meeting to resume the Collation of Governorship Election Results for Rivers State, which was disrupted by rampaging soldiers of the 6 Division of the Nigerian Army.
The Independent National Electoral commission ( INEC) suspended the Collation process for Rivers State Governorship Election after violent soldiers invaded the State Collation Centre at ABA Road in Port Harcourt.
The meeting is expected to determine the venue for the Collation of Governorship Election Results for Rivers State, slated for April 2 to 5.
INEC in her initial Press Release on the conclusion of the Collation Process informed that it has results for 17 Local Government Areas in safe custody.
Security has been beefed up at the Venue of the Stakeholders Meeting. Policemen and operatives of the Department of State Services can be seen at strategic locations around Omini Event Centre, venue of the meeting.
The policemen and DSS operatives are conducting stop and search, while stakeholders are properly screened before they enter the venue.
The stakeholders attending the meeting include: Governorship Candidates, Chairmen of Political Parties, Accredited Civil Society Groups and Accredited Journalists.
Though slated for 11am, the meeting will start behind schedule as stakeholders are still congregating.
