…Describes Ajimobi’s Aides As Shameless People
A Chieftain of the People Democratic Party (PDP) Chief Adebisi Olopoeniyan has dared the immediate past governor of the state, Senator Abiola Ajimobi to approach court to claim damages from the incumbent governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde for alleging him and his aides of carting away vehicles that belong to government while leaving the office in May 29, 2019.
While addressing journalists at his residence during the weekend Alhaji Olopoeniyan lambasted Professor Adeniyi Olowofela and his colleagues for organising unnecessary press conference at the time they supposed to have buried their heads in shame for milking the state dried. “I have never in my life seen people who are as shameless as Ajimobi’s aides who danced naked in the market today. How could an intelligent person downgraded himself to the level of defending a real, visible, touchable and readily available for every good citizen of Oyo State to view.”
Olopoeniyan who was accused by the aides of the immediate past governor in their speech during press conference on Friday as the mastermind of recent surge in the hijack and recovery of alleged stolen government vehicles said “it is the responsibility of every citizen of this great state to join hands with Engineer Seyi Makinde’s administration to recover every stolen property of Oyo State from whoever is involved in the diversion of government property. Even you journalists as sincere citizen of Nigeria should not excuse yourselves from this process.”
His aides in the press statement entitled “Enough of lies, propaganda and outright falsehood”, which was read before journalists at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Oyo State council Secretariat, advised Makinde to desist from these deliberate campaign of calumny as this could lead to the breakdown of law and order which we had hitherto enjoyed in the last eight years.
They said Makinde’s government was all out to destroy worthy legacies of the last administration.
The aides who were led by former Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Adeniyi Olowofela; former Special Adviser on Communication and Strategy, Mr. Bolaji Tunji and a former Special Assistant, Mr. Abiodun Ambali insisted there was the need for them to react to the missing vehicles and much hyped N150 billion debt they claimed Ajimobi incurred. They also warned Governor Makinde to desist from empowering people they referred to as “touts” from carrying out such nefarious hijacking of vehicles across the land.
They said Debt Management Office had out debt profile at about N94 billion, saying the allegations so far, were unfounded and a mere cheap propaganda.
Speaking further on allegations leveled against him, Chief Olopoeniyan described Ajimobi’s aides as ‘shameless’. He said “these people were in government from May 29, 2011 till May 29, 2019 and yet they were not satisfied with all the booties in their care and pecks they derived so far from holding positions of authority.”
“I can’t deny that government stolen vehicles carted away by them are being recovered daily, let them keep quiet or we will be forced to expose the atrocities further. If the government house was possible to cart away, these people would have done so. The level of their alleged theft of government property was mind boggling. They ought to have approached the police to invite me for the said robbery.”
“They are shameless set of people. If I truly was fingered as the mastermind of the recovery of government vehicles from where they were packed, let them go and report to the police.
“As a professor, who alleged such plot against my personality, he ought to know that only the truth is constant. And I dare say his academic records need to be examined for having the audacity to raise allegation that the vehicles they stole were being forcefully hijacked from them,” Olopoeniyan added.
