…Winners to get N9 million cash reward

Amidst fanfare and cheering applause, the Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki on Monday declared open the third edition of the Edo Sports Festival, 19 years after the second edition was held.

Declaring the event open in Benin City, the state governor assured that the sports festival will now be held annually as part of official sports calendar of the state government.

Obaseki said the festival would also be synchronized with the sports calendar of the Federal Ministry of Youths and Sports, noting that the event will serve as a unifying platform for Edo people across the 18 Local Government Areas of the state despite their cultural diversity and religious beliefs.

The governor further disclosed a cash reward of N5 million for the overall winner of the competition, while the 2nd and 3rd runners-up will get N3m and N1m respectively.
