COVID-19: Nigerian military confirms its officer tests positive

on Monday the Nigerian military confirmed that one of its officers tested positive for Coronavirus.

Maj.-Gen. John Enenche, Coordinator, Defence Media Operations, speaking at a news conference in Abuja confirmed that the officer in question had since been quarantined in Gwagwalada isolation centre in Abuja.

Maj.-Gen. John Enenche added that all possible contacts with the affected officer have also been identified and isolated in accordance with the standard procedure.

Enenche said that the affected officer was stable at the treatment centre.

He further noted that the military had made available 17 isolation and treatment centres across the six geopolitical zones of the country.

Maj.-Gen. John Enenche also disclosed that a good number of military medical personnel were being trained in the management of COVID-19 cases, in conjunction with the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
