The 22 APC Local government Chairmen were elected on 23rd May 2015,while their election was declared Null and Void on June 9 2015 byRetired Justice Lambo Akanbi Of the Federal High Court Sitting in Portharcourt.

Hon Augustine NGO had approached the Court of Appeal seeking the court reversal of the Judgement of the Federal High Court.

The court after receiving their Appeal fixed 5th October 2015 for hearing of the Appeals, but that date was yet again moved to November 11,12 and 13 2015 .

On 11,12 and 13th November 2015 Justice Ejembi RKO who presided over the case told the parties involved that there was no way he can continue with the hearing of the case, since the Counsel to the Rivers State government complained that the APC did not notify them.

The Judge adjourned till on December 1st 2015 for hearing of the matter, but yet again the case was stalled due to the inability of the Judges to form quorum,as most of the Judge were still tied up with election petition matters.

The court adjourned the case until April 14th 2016 for hearing.
