Charges NEC to confirm Giadom as National Chairman with mandate to conduct emergency convention… Pleads with stakeholders to work with Giadom to reposition the party…Pleads with Security Agencies to arrest Hillard Eta for his unguarded outbursts against President Buhari over the proposed NEC Meeting
As President Mohammadu Buhari, Progressive Governors Forum and other critical stakeholders within the ruling All Progressives Congress settles for Chief Victor Giadom as the authentic Ag. National Chairman of the APC, hopes are high that the party has found a solid path to a peaceful resolution of all crisis and hostilities within her fold.
Reacting to President Mohammadu Buhari’s nod to the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting convened by Chief Giadom and scheduled for Thursday noon at the State House, Eze, in a statement made available to media houses, said all is now set for the APC to reorganize its house and put modalities in place to expediently conduct primary elections in Ondo and Edo States to beat the deadline in line with INEC electoral guidelines.
Recall that the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Electronic Media, Garba Shehu, in a media release on Wednesday said President Mohammadu Buhari will be attending the NEC convened by Chief Giadom at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The statement reads;
“The President has received very convincing advice on the position of the law as far as the situation in the party is concerned and has determined that the law is on the side of Victor Giadom as Acting National Chairman”.
“We urge the media to stop promoting manufactured controversies and to not give any further room for mischievous interpretations of the law on this matter”.
“In addition to the President, the Giadom meeting will, hopefully, be attended by our Governors and the leaders of the National Assembly”.
By his position, Chief Eze said Mr. President has shown respect to the rule of law which will further deepen the tenets of democracy within the APC and Nigeria in general.
Congratulating Chief Giadom, the party chieftain counselled him to seize the opportunity to make an indelible footprint by redoubling efforts towards putting things back on shape and help the party retain power in Edo and Ondo states.
He said the challenge before the party is enormous and suggested that an Extra Ordinary Emergency Convention be convened to elect fresh NWC members to fill the vacant positions in the party’s national executive. He also appealed for the quick conduct of congresses in Rivers to help rebuild and reposition the party in the State.
Eze said, the exigency of the time makes it imperative for NEC to extend the stay of Giadom in office as Ag. National Chairman to help the party meet up with critical fundamental demands of the season especially, the prerequisites for the Edo and Ondo guber polls which are just by the corner.
Eze expressed disappointment over the outburst of Hon. Hillard Eta, South-South Zonal Vice Chairman of the APC on the scheduled NEC meeting sanctioned by the President, describing his comments as disrespectful and a mere dissipation of energy. And for the said Eta to continue to hold a meeting with Oshiomhole’s appointees without the approval of Chief Giadom the APC National Chairman is totally unfortunate and unacceptable
Eze further said that the outburst by Etta, an overzealous APC Officer who allowed himself to be used as a tool to sow seed of discord and confusion among ranks of the party since the ouster of Adams Oshiomhole, is unfortunate. To demonstrate his shameful act he decided to work with PDP Agents to destabilize APC Chapter in Rivers State going to the extent of even swearing in Governor Wike’s Ally, Barr. Worgu as National Deputy Secretary.
Eze urged security agencies to monitor Etta and his cohorts very closely, stressing that their recent body language is suggestive that they are hellbent of destroying APC as a political party to enable them float a new platform.
