The Bayelsa state governor, Henry Seriake Dickson and his deputy were served a tip of the APC tsunami, as the town of Nembe Basambiri erupted in an unusual frenzy, when some chieftains of the APC who went for the burial ceremony of Chief James Jephthah’s mother stormed the town yesterday. It is instructive to state that what followed the visit of these mighty men of Nembe was never planned, neither was it anticipated by these APC bigwigs that were in Nembe to honour the mother of one of their illustrious son.
The people’s reaction was spontaneous, like a bolt out of the blue, as virtually the entire town came out enmass to show support and identify with the APC, almost forgetting about the burial in town.
The sagacious sons of Nembe who went to pay their last respect to the mother of Chief James Jephthah a.k.a (Octopus), are Fente Thomas Abrakassa, Chief K.D Francis Itioekeife, Barr. Kenneth Standfast, Mr Beleudanyo Ben, Elder C.W. Ene. Barr. Solomon Imbasi and Christopher Ebi Peters.
On stepping their feet on the soil of the land, there arose a spontaneous show of solidarity for the APC by Nembe Basambiri people. The drums were rolled out, APC flags began surfacing out of the blues and then a procession followed, with the “APC change Dickson” chants renting the air, these illustrious sons of Nembe were taken aback by the show of love shown to them and the APC, as that wasn’t their actual purpose of going home.
All their pleas for their visit not to be given a political coloration fell on deaf ears, as they had to buckle under the people’s pressure to march round the town with gyrating youths of the town.
In the course of marching and gyrating round the town, the ecstatic crowd thronging behind the APC chieftains came across the convoy of the Deputy Governor, Rear Admiral John Gborigbogha Jonah blaring sirens, but they were unmoved, as the intensified their “APC change Dickson” chants.
Meanwhile, the state governor himself was in Nembe, but his presence was of no significance as the people have decided where to pitch their tent.
As we head into the electioneering period, the PDP is going to see the steel will of the people in full effect, as it has become a stale mucus infested food that Bayelsans have vowed never to swallow, the PDP Must be discarded along with its anti-people, fear inducing governor.
