All the Traditional rulers in Ohafia Local Government Area, Abia State have endorsed former governor of the state, Dr Orji Uzor Kalu for his senate bid.

At a ceremony conducted at Erima hall, Abiriba yesterday, the spokesman of the traditional rulers, who pleaded anonymity due to the ill treatment meted out to his colleagues in other parts of the state for supporting candidates that were not in the good books of the government in power, said that Kalu is the only person who will go to the senate and benefit his people.

“We are hereby giving you our endorsement and telling you that the whole of Ohafia LGA is open for you to go and campaign, nobody will molest you”.

The campaign train, which left Orji Kalu’s country home,Igbere around 9am to berth at Abiriba embarked on a ward to ward campaign and visited Amaogudu ward 1 and 2, where the surge of supporters of Kalu almost defied his security details as they made attempts to identify with him.

After the two wards, the crowd, which can well be described as unprecedented surged on with his entourage , chanting solidarity songs and followed him to Agboji ward.

From Agboji ward, the campaign train moved on to Ameke ward 1 and 2, making all the wards he visited in Abiriba 5.

In all these wards, Kalu was delivering messages of unity, telling them why the game of politics should be one that will unite instead of divide people.

“But you have seen that what the crop of politicians in this state are teaching us is nothing but hatred. They are teaching us to hate our brothers and sisters because of the fact that they belong to another party, is it right?”, Kalu asked.

He went further to tell them that many of the people who are canvassing for their votes are those who will elongate their sufferings when they are voted into power.

“A highly indebted government is campaigning that a candidate they brought out to stand election should be voted into power, is this not another way of continuing a government of indebtedness? If they are serious to stand election, the first thing they should have done would have been to pay your salaries, pensions, and other debts they are owing Abia civil servants, workers, contractors, teachers etc. But here they come, holding your entitlements and are still asking for your votes, are you going to vote for them?”, he asked again.

From Abiriba, he left for Nkporo, where he also campaigned at five wards. The wards include Ugwutie , Ndagbo, Ndalu , Amiyi/umuokwuru and Etiti Ama, the ward of the speaker of Abia state House of Assembly Rt Hon Ude Oko Chukwu, who is the deputy gubernatorial candidate of PDP in the state.

Here , Kalu told Chukwu that if he did not vote for him(Kalu) for his Senate bid, it would amount to abomination which the land of Nkporo would not take kindly with him.
