The Peoples Democratic Party in Rivers State has called on losers in Saturday’s governorship and House of Assembly elections to emulate President Goodluck Jonathan and concede defeat.it explained that rather than fan the embers of disunity and peddling of falsehood, those at the losing end should congratulate the winners of the polls.

Speaking with newsmen in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, the Chairman of the State PDP Campaign Organisation, Mr. Emma Okah, described as paradoxical a situation where election was adjudged free and fair when the PDP lost while the same exercise would be followed with allegations of irregularities if the PDP won.

Okah, who congratulated the winners of the governorship and House of Representatives elections in the state, described the allegations from the losers as spurious and untrue.

He said, “We urge the losers to be courageous and honourable if truly they are democrats. They should emulate our beloved President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, who, as a true statesman, has shown the way forward in sportsmanship.

“Rather than fan the embers of disunity and peddling of falsehood, they should congratulate the winners. It is indeed paradoxical that whenever the PDP loses, it is alright and process is adjudged free and fair.

“Yet whenever our great party wins, especially in Rivers State, it is followed by spurious allegations of irregularities, fraud and calls for cancellation. The PDP in Rivers State affirms that these allegations are untrue and the handiwork of bad losers.”

Meanwhile, the member representing Ikwerre/Emohua Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Chief Andrew Uchendu, has vowed to contest the outcome of the March 28, 2015 election senatorial election in court.

Uchendu, who vied for the Rivers East senatorial seat on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, alleged that the Independent National Electoral Commission in the state released the results of an election that never held.
