The member representing Ogu-Bolo Constituency in the Rivers State House of Assembly and the Chief Whip of the House Hon.Evans Bip said that the state Assembly should make those who provide support for kidnappers to suffer severely.
Bipi stated this why supporting the Bill brought by the leader of the House Hon.Martins Amaewhule for amendment into the Rivers State Anti Kidnapping and provision Law no 3. of 2009.
The bill seeks to empower the state governor to confiscate properties of anyone convicted of the crime.
“Mr Speaker, we will need to empower the executive to deal with them. If we empower the government to do so, those who are in the business would know that its no longer business as usual.
Supporting the Bill Bipi stated that those who provide support for such crimes should suffer the same fate, saying, “The act (kidnapping) is highly unbearable. Those who engage in it see it as lucrative business.”
