Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has called on the Nigerian Dream Team VI to defeat their Congolese opponents convincely when they play them on Sunday at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in the Olympic Games Qualifying Match.He promised to pay the team thirty thousand dollars for a goal and one hundred thousand dollars for three goals. He charged the team not to allow the Congolese score a goal or draw the match.
Speaking after watching the team’s training at the Adokiye AmiesimakaStadium on Friday, Governor Wike said he has confidence that the players will do the country proud.He noted that the quality of training and deft moves displayed by the players indicate that they are fit and prepared for the match.
Commenting on the stadium, the governor said the state government has improved on the facilities in the stadium up to international standard.
He said : “ We decided to host this match to show NFF that we have the facility to host international matches.
“To the players, you need to win this match for the country. You get all the needed support. If you score a goal, you get Thirty thousand dollars. If you score three goals, you get One Hundred thousand dollars”.
He said the present standard of the stadium will attract more international matches for the state, noting that the state is fully prepared for such matches.
The governor informed that the state’s investments in sports is targeted at developing talents of youths and creating employment opportunities.
Responding, Coach of the team, Sampson Siasia commended the governor for the motivation.
He said he said that he has confidence in the team that they will make Nigeria proud on Sunday.
