A former Goveenor of Bayelsa State, Chief Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, has urged the people of the state to stop changing governors at will, saying such trend will not guarantee development.
He reiterated his call on Bayelsans to re-elect Governor Seriake Dickson for a second term in office.

He stated this during the inauguration of Dickson Support Movement in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State capital, on Thursday.

The DSM has the Speaker, Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Mr. Kombowei Benson, as its director general.

Alamieyeseigha said Bayelsa had witnessed massive transformation under Governor Dickson in the past three and a half years.

Alamieyeseigha, who commended the Speaker and others for mobilising support for the second term bid of the governor, said the era of changing governors at will was over and called for support for the current administration.

The first Governor of Bayelsa said, “You should go to all the nooks and crannies of Bayelsa State to sell this good product, Governor Dickson, for another term in office. We cannot afford to be changing our Governors at will.

“Other states created the same time with us have only had two governors in the last 16 years. But we have had four governors. This does not bring continuity.”

In his remarks, Benson said the projects embarked upon by the Dickson-led government were enough to bring him back to office for another term.

The Speaker said, “You don’t have big work other than a responsibility to sell our worthy Governor. He has done well. Go out for the lost sheep, bring them into the Dickson Movement.

“This group is the brainchild of some right thinking people of the state. This movement is not here for any other business other than supporting the re-election of Governor Seriake Dickson. The same group that drew down

Alamieyeseigha, are the same voices that are singing the songs to bring down our governor, but we will not allow them again because we are wiser now.Alamieyeseigha remains our hero and a great Ijaw leader.”

Benson, however, said that the people of the state would soon witness a new era of ‘work and chop’, with money all over for the people.

He added, “The Dickson Support Movement is here urging and calling both the discerning and antagonistic persons to support our governor. Something great is about happening. I assure you that money will soon flow in the state. Money will flow into your pockets.

“Alongside projects, you will not lack money. And the Dickson Support Movement is workshop, ‘you work, you chop’.”

Benson said the mobilization would be from the grass roots to promote the good works of the Governor.
Former Speaker of the old Rivers State House of Assembly, and Chief of Staff, Government House, Chief Talford Ongolo, and one of the leaders of the Bayelsa East senatorial district, Chief Amalate Turner, urged the people of the state to prepare for the forthcoming election and participate actively in the process to return the Governor for another term.

They said Dickson having done very well for the state deserved re-election,
