All is now set for the final Legal decision on the true winner of the Abia State Governorship election held on April 11th and 25th 2015 which produced Okezie Ikpeazu of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) as the governor of Abia State.
Alex Otti of the All Progressive Grand Alliance(APGA) had approached the Abia State governorship election petition Tribunal seeking an order cancelling the Election results from Obingwa,Osisioma and Isialangwa Local Government Areas and subsequtelt declaring him the winner of the Poll.
Chairman of the Abia State governorship election petition Tribunal Justice Usman Bwala in its rulling berated Alex Otti for asking for two things at the Same Time,the Judge told Alex Otti that one cannot approbate and reprobate at the Same Time,which means that he cannot ask for a cancellation and a declaration order that he won the Election.
On the 31st of December 2015,a Five-member Panel of Appeal Court Justices headed by Justice Oyebisi Omeleye agreed to the prayers of Dr Alex Otti,when her Panel ordered INEC to arrange for his swearing in after the elections of OBINGWA,OSISIOMA and ISIALANGWA respectively had been cancelled.
Governor Okezie Ikpeazu in exercise of his legal rights,Appealed the Judgement at the Supreme Court,Alex Otti sensing danger in the contents of the Judgement by the court of Appeal also cross Appealed the area where the court ruled on the powers of the Returning Officer.
The Supreme Court will hear the Appeals today and information available to PUO REPORTS indicates that the Court will deliver its Judgement few Minutes after hearing
