History was made yesterday the 15th of March 2016 during the Senatorial Campaign Rally of the peoples Democratic Party(PDP) in Elele Town , Ikwerre Local Government Area as Rivers State Governor His Excellency Chief Barrister Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, CON elevated the Ngwelle Chieftaincy stool, Elele Town from Second Class to First Class status.
Governor Nyesom Wike while elevating the stool yesterday stated that God has remembered His Royal Majesty King Jonathan O. Amadi, JP,Nyewe Ali Elele, Alimini, Akpabo & Itu who was humiliated by the former Governor of the State Rt Hon Chibuike Amaechi simply because he received the entourage of Governor Nyesom Wike during the 2015 electioneering Period.
PUO REPORTS Learnt that King J.O. Amadi, 97 years old was punished by Former Governor Chibuike Amaechi for receiving Governor Nyesom Wike (then Minister of State for Education) in a courtesy visit when GDI a flagged off her LGA campaigns in Elele Town. For 6 years he was denied RSG recognition, staff of office, allowances and all privileges due him as a King.
King J.O. Amadi holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education (Mathematics), University of Port Harcourt and he is about the oldest living person in Elele Town.
Governor Wike announced this elevation during a courtesy visit to the King in his palace at Ogbakiri, Elele Town. In his entourage were Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, National Chairman of PDP; Prince Uche Secondus, Deputy National Chairman of PDP; Deputy Governor of Rivers State Her Excellency Dr Mrs Ipalibo Harry Banigo; Dr Abiye Sekibo, former Minister of Transport; Dr Tammy Danagogo former Minister of Sports and so many other dignitaries. Gov Wike was in Elele to attend the PDP Rivers East Senatorial District Rerun Election Campaign Rally.
Ngwelle stool is by natural succession.
The oldest surviving man in Ogbakiri Family in Elele Town automatically succeeds the last King upon death. For all the deprivations and agony which he suffered under the former Government of Rivers State, we will tell the story another day.
