Fellow Abians, it is high time we stood up to face realities in God’s own State. It is not too late for us to properly drive our common destiny by resorting to measures that will help us protect ourselves, our children and generations to come.
These can only be achieved by the time we begin to tell ourselves the truth about the past, present condition and future of Abia State. We cannot make any progress if we claim ignorance of or fail to recall our past, present and future challenges.
Take it or leave it, it is the obvious mistakes of our past leaders that kept us where we are today. Any government that fails in its Constitutional obligations will certainly creat liabilities for successive ones. I doubt if there is anything we are suffering in this State today that is not traceable to the past Administrations. Our problems today are more or less inherited liabilities. Interestingly, in April 2015, Abians stood up and exhibited their bitterness against incompetence, none performance, set backs and all kinds of failures that repeatedly rocked the State by voting for a man with a better vision, mission and/or goals to accomplish within a timeframe. This assertion was confirmed by the Supreme Court of Nigeria when Dr Okezie Victor Ikpeazu was declared the duly elected Governor of Abia State.
That confirmation, ordinarily should have been the conclusion of the whole matter. The whole world stood perplexed and in a state of dilemma when an Abuja Federal High Court purportedly sacked a Governor whose election was authenticated by the Supreme Court of Nigeria. It sounds too ridiculous in our legal system for a PRE ELECTION matter that ought to have been concluded and/or exhausted prior to the election as envisaged in our electoral law to be the basis for removal of a Governor whose election was tested and validated at all the appropriate Courts in Nigeria.
Fellow Abians, it is time for us to ask ourselves certain questions. It is within our knowledge that since after the day Dr Okezie Victor Ikpeazu was declared the winner of Abia Governorship election by INEC, he has been in Court till date. Our fellow Abians have refused to give him breathing space. He has suffered just and unjust distractions. 31st December, 2015 and 27th June, 2016 will continue to rejuvenate in our memories because these two dates occasioned serious set back in Abia political history and in our fight for total liberation. Whereas other States are moving forward, the success and progress of Abia State is still subjected to and/or hinged on the total and perfect discretion of the Nigerian Judiciary. And this whole thing is not unconnected to mere display of desperation for power, selfishness and uncontrolled political ambition, pride, ego and hot desire to thwart the will of the people.
Who will resort to chasing rat when his house is on fire? Today, many are complaining and criticizing the Governor of unpaid salaries, bad roads and all that. The same people are comfortable with the pending litigations at the various Courts in Nigeria and at the same time, expecting the Governor to miraculously turn Abia State to a PARADISE or give Abia the attention that it requires. THESE, I submit are THE TRUE ENEMIES OF ABIA STATE. Any right thinking person from Abia State will never take delight in what has befallen the State from 2015 till date.
The truth remains that if Ikpeazu could achieve the little he has been able to achieve while battling with all the judicial distractions, it simply means he would have skyrocketed the State to the highest level of development with less or no distractions from anybody. Abians who mean well for our dear State should therefore rise and make a spirited call for cessation, suspension and/or withdrawal of all kinds of distractive measures against this government. Dr Okezie Ikpeazu has come to take this State to the next level. Anybody praying or calling for his removal by the Supreme Court of Nigeria really hates Abia State and indeed wants to compound our problems.
It is on record that it was a week after Ikpeazu flagged off Faulks Road in Aba that the Abuja Federal High Court ordered his removal. Till date, SETRACO is yet to commence the reconstruction of that road which leads to one of the largest markets in Africa- Ariaria International Market. Ikpeazu will never get settled until all these matters are dispensed with. It simply means that we are the ones holding ourselves.
And for those of you arguing that the Supreme Court should not rely on technicalities to give their verdict, that is clear display of ignorance. Many do not know what the Court refers to as technicalities. They have repeatedly posted that the Court of Appeal relied on technicalities. If you care for a lecture on technicalities, I advise you do proper consultations using OGA VS IKPEAZU & 3 ORS as a case study. Our law ( even the divine law ) does not judge or condemn a man who is not heard.
Many are the afflictions of the righteous but The Lord delivers him in them all. This is the word of God. Ride on Dr Okezie Victor Ikpeazu!
