Justice Binta Nyako of an Abuja Federal High Court, on Monday held that witnesses testifying against leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu will either give their testimonies behind the screen or on mask.
The judge gave the ruling after Kanu’s counsel, Ifeanyi Ejiofor informed the court of an application filed for the review of the judgment made by the court previously on the protection of witnesses.
But Justice Nyako maintained that she will not vary her order for the protection of witnesses in the matter.
The judge explained that her order was aimed at protecting security operatives who will be testifying against Kanu and his co-accused.
According to Nyako, “I will not vary my order on protection of the security operatives, it is either they come wearing masks or we hear their testimonies behind the screen.
”The only people that will see them is me, you (the counsels involved) and the defendants.”
