The State Working Committee (SWC) of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) Abia State, has said that it no longer has confidence in the leadership of the Chairman of the party, Rev. Augustine Ehiemere and called on him to step down pending the hearing and determination of series of allegations leveled against him.
The NWC had in a resolution made available to newsmen in Umuahia yesterday accused the chairman of gross misconduct and violation of the party’s constitution, an act which they said is likely to bring the image of the party to ridicule and dispute.
In a press release signed by 17 members of the party, they also accused the chairman of countering the order of the national chairman by asking aspirants in the forth-coming LG elections to pay all nomination form fees into the state FCMB account against the directive of NWC and national chairman, who asked that it should be paid into the national account of the party.
Calls to the chairman on his mobile line for his reaction over the allegations were not successful, as his phone was silent.
Other allegations leveled against him are; that he compiled the list of candidates for the LG election outside the party secretariat, without any member of SWC citing the list including the party secretary and submitted same to ABSIEC without due process.
According to the resolution, Rev Ehiemere abused his office by deliberately removing names of aspirants that passed through due process, bought forms, passed through screening and won their primaries and he substituted them with people that did not buy forms or passed through screening exercise conducted by the party.
