Leaders of Assemblies Of God Nigeria has declared a State of Emergency on the Construction of the Permanent Site of the Church Owned University(Evangel (university)with immediate effect
The Declaration of the State of Emergency followed an Emergency Leaders Forum Meeting summoned by the Executive Commitee of Assemblies Of God Nigeria on Thursday 7th September 2017 at Evangel House,National Headquarters of Assemblies Of God Nigeria in Enugu.
The meeting Presided over by the General Superintendent Rev Dr Chidi Okoroafor had in attendance all elected Officers, members of the Executive Commitee,District Superintendents and Directors of the General Council Assemblies Of God Nigeria.
Briefing the Leaders on the state of affairs of Evangel University,Rev Dr Chidi Okoroafor said time has come for the Church Leaders to stand by the Executive Commitee in ensuring that Evangel University is moved to its Permanent Site located in Akaeze,Ivo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
Evangel University which kickstarted its Academic activities in 2012 and in November 2016 Graduated its Pioneer Students had been operating from its temporary site,Evangel Camp Okpoto
The Vision of the University is to give total education to the total man and so produce graduates who shall be equipped and motivated to be leaders and role models in Nigeria’s public and private sectors and so be instrumental and deeply involved in bringing about the much needed development in Nigeria with the fear of God.
It will be recalled that some Loyalists of Rev Paul Emeka,Former General Superintendent of Assemblies Of God Nigeria had approached the Akaeze Community,asking them to revoke the land giving to the Church,but their plans did not scale through as the Community were not Convinced the directives came from the right sources of the Church.
One Rev Sam Onwuka,a loyalists of Rev Paul Emeka also made a failed attempt to get the Nigerian Universities Commission(NUC) Revoke the Operational Licence of Evangel University.
The Leaders of Assemblies Of God Nigeria unanimously agreed in one accord to ensure that work begins at Evangel University Permanent Site before the end of November 2017.
The Church Leaders also adopted Sunday 5th November 2017 to Specially Contribute in their Various Districts to see that Evangel University moves to its Permanent Site.
The Evangel University Permanent site has more than 3000 Plots of Land
If developed,the University will move to Akaeze,thereby solving accommodation Problems which has recently been a challeng at the Evangel Cam Okpoto
