The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Akwa Ibom State has conducted the local government primary elections for aspirants in the state.
According to the party, the primaries were conducted was to elect chairmanship candidates to fly the party’s flag during the December local government council polls in the state.
The leadership of the PDP in Akwa Ibom said they move the primaries for the 20 local government councils from their respective areas to the Uyo Township Stadium for security reasons.
Meanwhile, the state governor, Udom Emmanuel, commended the delegates and aspirants in Onna, his home Local Government Area for their peaceful and orderly conduct in the area.
Some of the delegates, who spoke to Channels Television in the state capital, were also satisfied with the process.
The Akwa Ibom State Independent Electoral Commission (AKISIEC) had fixed December 2 for the conduct of local government elections in the state.
