Ikpeazu hails Abia State University Vice Chancellor Prof Ikonne on Giant Strides

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia state has extolled the Vice Chancellor of Abia State University Uturu, Professor Uche Ikonne for repositioning the citadel of learning to the path of growth and excellence.


Speaking during the 34th Inaugural Lecture of the University delivered by Professor Eze Chinedu Ngwakwe of the Law Faculty of the university at its Auditorium, Uturu , the governor represented by his deputy, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu said that prof Ikonne transformational strides in the institution was in line with the state government’s five cardinal policy which places Education on the front burner.

Gov Ikpeazu said that the educational sector has received enormous support and attention for his administration which have culminated in the state maintaining the prime position in the WAEC examinations and the university topping the Nigeria Law school chart resulting to increasing the number of students enrollment in the Law faculty.
The Governor revealed that the coming on board of prof Ikonne has brought a new horizontal development in the university with the number of professors increasing from 19 to 34 and massive infrastructural development in the umuahia campus of the university.
He equally commended the Inaugural guest lecturer prof Ngwakwe stating that his Topic ,: Law– Ness of African law: A Trajectory of Advances and Reverses in the Dialectics of African Law for Africa development describing it as apt.
Dr Ikpeazu reassured the university community that all his promises to them would be fulfilled based on availability of resources.
In his speech,The Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof Uche Ikonne , commended the cordial relationship existing between the government and the university noting that this was the first time the governor would be attending their inaugural lecture. Prof Ikonne stated that they were proud in producing professors and students who would hold their heads high in the competitive society.

In his remarks. The deputy Vice Chancellor ( Academics) prof Iheanyichukwu Elekwa thanked the governor for honouring the invitation stating that they were happy that what has invested in the university was bearing the desired results.
