A Commissioner Nominee and Former Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Chief Charles Ogbonna has said he is now ready to retire from active Politics.
Chief Ogbonna who appeared at the plenary of the Abia State House of Assembly in Umuahia on Monday stated this while answering questions from the Lawmakers over his role in the last Position he held in the State.
He revealed that as former commissioner in charge of local governments in the state, his ministry discovered 2284 ghost workers within the local government system and told the house that the fact of painstaking review and discover demonstrates his uprightness and integrity.
Chief Ogbonna stated that the discovery should save the state 57 billion naira over a period of five years, if necessary actions are taken.
He said as a Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy affairs,his ministry formed a verification committee that discovered a health worker at Amachara General Hospital on Level 14 and also serving as local government health officer Ikwuano LGAon Level 14.
He said, “We sent the certificates of some local government workers to WAEC for confirmation, but the reply we got was that those certificates were not issued by that examination body.
The Former Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs Commissioner revealed that he was ready to retire from active politics.
“They said Politicians dont retire,but i wont to prove it wrong because am now ready to retire from Politics so that younger people can come and try their Best”
