- Abia State house of Assembly today Tuesday October 24th 2017 Continued the Screening of the remaining Commissioner Nominees sent by Governor Okezie Ikpeazu .
Recall that the house had on Monday 23rd October 2017 adjourned plenary till today Tuesday 24th October 2017 for further Screening of the Nominees after Successfully Screening 13 out of the 25 Commissioner list sent to the house by the State Governor Okezie Victor Ikpeazu.
At the House plenary on Tuesday,Honorable Solomon Akpulonu member Representing Obingwa East Constituency moved a motion for the adoption of the votes and Proceedings of Yesterday, the motion was seconded by the Minority Leader Hon Chibuzor Okogbuo Representing Bende South State Constituency.
The Clerk of the House Mr Pedro Irokansi presented the Business of the day which had the Continuation of the Screening as Number on the List.
Subsequently the Speaker Rt Hon Chikwendu Kalu directed the Assemblies Sargent At Arms to Usher in First Mr John Okiyi Kalu.
Mr John Okiyi Kalu who hails from Abariba in Ohafia Local Government Area Of Abia State was asked to identify his Lawmaker, which he identified as Honourable Mandela Obasi Representing Ohafia North State Constituency in the House.
“He worked so hard to ensure that the Governor was delivered in Ohafia Local .On that note I asked that Mr Speaker and my Honourable colleagues allow this man to take a Bow,so he can assist the Governor in delivering more to Abians” . The Lawmakers Said.
“The Commissioner Nominee Mr John Okiyi is from My Local Government, his appointment to me is on merit,his performance is speaking. we that are from Ohafia are proud of him” The Lawmaker Representing Ohafia South Constituency said
The Deputy Speaker of the Assembly and Member Representing Bende North Dr Cosmos Ndukwe asked”Abia seems to be the only State where everybody Speaks for the Government “,what will you do to checkmate this if appointed Commissioner for Information?
Responding Mr John Okiyi Said there is already a strategy in place which is waiting for Implementation.
After responding to questions by other members of the House,Mr John Okiyi Kalu was asked tobtakeba bow and leave.
Others Screened were Dr Kelvin Aham Uko from Umuahia in Umuahia North, Ikechukwu Anyatonwu from Isialangwa South.he was asked to take a bow after Introductory Remarks by the Speaker,Chief Fabian Nwankwo Umunneochi,Obioma was asked to take a bow alongside Chief Fabian.
