Kaduna—Governor Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna State, yesterday, vowed to deal with those who had been promoting violence in the state since 1981. El-Rufai According to him, the violent practices include murder, arson, ethnic and religious cleansing and displacement of communities. Governor el-Rufai, who spoke at the inauguration of Kaduna State Peace Commission, said the state government owed it a duty to the victims of these crises to ensure people no longer resorted to violence to resol-ve misunderstandings. He said: “Certain elite circles in the state have used violence that had happened in the state in the past to unleash an unwelcome talent for hate speech, incitement and outright lies. “This regrettable episode has now been contained with the assistance of the security assets of the Federal Government, funded by the Kaduna State Government.” The commission, headed by the Secretary General of the Anglican Communion Worldwide, Rev. Dr. Josiah Idowu-Fearon, will have a live span of five years.
