Buhari Writes Senate, Requests Confirmation Of CCB Nominees

President Muhammadu Buhari has written the Nigerian Senate to request for the confirmation of nominees of the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB).

The Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, read the letter to lawmakers during Wednesday’s plenary at the Upper House of the National Assembly in Abuja.

President Buhari, who sent the names of 10 nominees, with one of them as chairman, asked the Senate to confirm the nominees soon.

In the letter, the President said the curriculum vitae of the nominees have also been sent for the senators’ consideration.

It read, “In compliance with section 541 of the 1999 Constitution as amended and in pursuant to sections 1(2) and 1(3) of the Code of Conduct Bureau Act LFN 2004, I write to request for the confirmation of the following nominees for appointment as chairman and members of the bureau.

“The curriculum vitae of the nominees are attached herewith. It is my hope that this Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria will in their usual expeditious manner consider and confirm the nominees.”

Muhammed Isa from Jigawa State (North West) was appointed the chairman while Murtala Kankia from Katsina State (North West) and Emmanuel Attah from Cross River State (South-South) are members.

Other members include Danjuma Sado (Edo State – South), Obolo Opanachi (Kogi State – North Central), Ken Madaki Alkali (Nasarawa State – North Central), and S.F. Ogundare (Oyo State – South West).

The bureau also has as members, Ganiyu Hamzat (Ogun State – South West), Sahad Abubakar (Gombe State – North East), and Vincent Nwanne (Ebonyi State – South East).
