President Buhari ‘Overwhelmed’ By Kindness From Nigerians

President Muhammadu Buhari says he is overwhelmed by the kindness Nigerians have shown him, especially concerning his health.

The President said this on Sunday at his official residence in the Presidential Villa in Abuja, as he clocks 75.

“Across the country, people who are praying – whether Muslims, or Christians, or whatever they are; I was overwhelmed by the kindness from Nigerians that they are really bothered about my health,” he said.

The President, who chose to have breakfast just as another Sunday morning, was stunned by his members of staff who were already on the ground to celebrate him on his birthday.

He was warmly welcomed at his living room by his Chief of Staff, Mr Abba Kyari, alongside other staff members who sang for him and also presented him with a birthday card.

President Buhari who could not hide his joy said: “It’s a wonderful experience and I am very pleased.

“My staff, families, and friends succeeded in surprising me today by bringing cards and coming into photographs with me; I wasn’t expecting it at all.”

The President received the governor of Ogun State, Ibikunle Amosun, who also paid him a visit with a birthday gift.

He also got a surprise visit from Nigeria’s service chiefs led by the Chief of Defence Staff, General Abayomi Olonisakin.
