Rev Henry Emelike Senior Pastor of Assemblies Of God Church No 5-7 ITEM Street Umuahia has been Elected the New District Superintendent of Umuahia Central Jerusalem District.
Rev Henry Emelike polled a Total of 143 Votes out of a Total of 178 Eligible Voters Over Rev Enoch Mathew who came a Distant Second with a Total of 32 Votes at the 1st Tri-ennial Council Meeting of the District Chaired by Rev Dr Chidi Okoroafor General Superintendent of Assemblies Of God Nigeria and Assisted by Rev Dr Abel Amadi the Owerri East District Superintendent and Executive Committee Member Representing South East Zone 2 at the General.
Before his Emergence as the New District Superintendent of Umuahia Central Jerusalem Rev Henry Emelike was the Assistant District Superintendent and Sectional Leader of Urban 1 Section of Umuahia Central District.
It will be recalled that the immediate Past District Superintendent Rev Theophilus Anyimson and the District Treasurer Rev Chime Adindu were Retired in November 2017.
Other District Officers Elected alongside Rev Henry Emelike are Rev Ndubuisi Ogbonnaya as Assistant District Superintendent, Rev David Nwankwo as District Secretary, Rev Timothy Asika as District Treasurer while Rev Young Alozie,Rev Enoch Mathew and Rev Ephraim Ugboaja emerged as Presbyters.
Speaking from the book of Haggai 2:7-9 on the Topic ” WANTED WANTED WANTED”(Agent of Later Glory) the General Superintendent Rev Chidi Okoroafor urged the Newly Elected Leaders of Umuahia Central District to be Leaders who make things happen and not those who watch things Happen.
The General Superintendent also explained why the District Council didnt hold in July 2017 since the Council that Produced the outgoing Presbytery held on the 10th of July 2014.
“By Reason of the Council on the 10th of July 2014,this Council was Supposed to be held in July 2017”
“But there is a Standing Policy of the General Council that when an Inaugural Council takes place after July,it is Usually Approximated to the Beginning of the Other Year,that is why your Council is holding in January 2018” he Said
The General Superintendent also appreciated the District for the Successful Conduct of the Retirement the Retired Officers of the District.
