The Abia chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party has reacted to the alleged deceitful advertisement of an interest-free loan by a former Governor of the State, Orji Uzor Kalu, following his request that applicants must present their voters’ card.

The PDP in a statement signed by the State Publicity Secretary, Don Ubani, accused Kalu of trying to hoodwink unsuspecting Abians.

“In the said advert, the former governor who, during his eight uneventful years as governor, reduced God’s own State to goose’s own State by forcefully taking Abians to different shrines in and around Abia State, especially the blood-sucking ogwugwu shrine at Okija in Anambra State, in order to impose an indecent and undemocratic political lexicon malignantly and most obnoxiously known as ‘mamacracy’, did not make any attempt, whatsoever, to empower the good people of the State, except only on one occasion when he invited few Abia youths and gave them second-hand wheel barrows, is, as usual with him, asking registered voters to apply for an ‘interest-free loan’ from him,” he said.

He revealed that Kalu, in the past, deceived the Borno state Education Endowment fund where purportedly packaged ordinary papers cut into the sizes of the Naira and purportedly donated same as one million Naira.

“Orji Uzor Kalu, being the conman he has always been, remember when he packaged ordinary papers cut into the sizes of the Naira and purportedly donated same as one million Naira to the Borno State Education Endowment Fund, now wants to use this clearly fraudulent method to deprive Abians of their voters’ card by demanding that the loan can only be obtained on presentation of a loan applicant’s voter’s card.

“The Peoples’ Democratic Party in Abia State vehemently frowns at this moribund style of deceiving people. The Party knows that one out of two things would happen to any Abian who unfortunately keys into this criminally-minded yet non-existent loan scheme.

“It is either that Orji Uzor Kalu, who has serially and abysmally failed elections since he left PDP in 2007 and has been desperate in futile search for relevance, would cease the voters’ cards or would, in the least, clone the cards for use or confusion in 2019 elections,” He said.

The party advised Abians to steer clear from the activities of the former Governor.

“The PDP, Abia State Chapter, calls on all Abians to shine their eyes and steer completely clear from this miscreant called Orji Uzor Kalu, who when he had the rare opportunity to impact positively on the lives of Abians rather converted the commonwealth of the people to his family estate; buying planes and ships and, thereby, unleashing the most horrible form of poverty and hardship on the good people of Abia State.”
