The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board has disclosed that up to 1.6 million candidates were recommended for admission in the 2017/2018 Academic Session. This happens to be the highest so far in recent years.
However, out of the 1.6 million candidates, only about 500,000 candidates have accepted their admission on JAMB CAPS while about 1.1 million candidates are yet to Accept their Admission.
This was disclosed by the JAMB’s Head of Media, Dr Fabian. According to Dr Fabian, the increase in the number of candidates recommended for admission is as a result of the reduction of Cut-off marks as well as the introduction of the Central Admission Processing System (CAPS).
Can Candidates Still Be Admitted After the Admission Deadline?
Dr Fabian stated that despite the fact that the official deadline for admission was January 25th, 2017, the acceptance of admission is still on.
This means that the remaining candidates who are yet to accept their admission on JAMB CAPS can login and do so.
All candidates who are yet to accept their admission are therefore advised to do so as soon as possible before the opportunity for that closes.
Dr Fabian equally stated that while some school have already completed their admission process, some other schools have not totally completed their admission process but will do so as soon as possible.
This means that more names are likely to be uploaded on JAMB portal in the next few days.
So if you participated in the 20i7 UTME, and were not admitted before 25th January 2018, all hope is not lost as your name may likely be uploaded on JAMB portal between now and in the next few days.
In this regard we advise candidates to still keep checking their JAMB CAPSbetween now and in the next two weeks.
