Online News blogger kidnapped in Umuahia, regains Freedom

The online news blogger, Ngozi Onwukwe who was abducted on Friday by yet to be identified kidnappers on Saturday narrated his ordeal in the hands of his abductors.

Speaking to newsmen in Umuahia, the Abia state capital, Onwukwe who is the publisher of Abacityblog.com, narrated that he was kidnapped along Ikot Ekpene road, Umuahia by three men with Sienna car and was whisked away to unknown destination.

He said he was blindfolded by the kidnappers and was on Saturday dumped at isi gate market in Umuahia by his abductors.

Words:”I was kidnapped by three men with sienna car. They asked me about the news report I wrote on the Chairman of isiala ngwa north local government area, Ginger Onwusibe. I told them the sources of the story. They took me away and this saturday morning, I was rescued and dumped at isi gate market.

Meanwhile, the National President of Online Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria, Mr. Eme James Anyalekwa has described the abduction of the publisher of Abacityblog.com, Ngozi Onwukwe as barbaric and senseless, wondering how a journalist would be kidnapped while discharging his legitimate duty.

Anyalekwa warned that the association would not fold its arms and watch their members being molested by agents of government, describing members of the association as law-abiding.

It will be recalled that Ngozi Onwukwe had on Friday reported in his online news blog that, the chairman of isiala ngwa local government area of the Abia state, Giniger Onwusibe urged Governor Okezie Ikpeazu to pay state and local government workers their salaries.
