A big surprise has emerged at the APC Secretariat where members of the Screening Committee saddled with the responsibility of screening candidates for positions in the forthcoming national convention of the party unanimously screened out Hon Victor Giadom for failing to present any qualifying certificate.
Hon. Victor Giadom, an ardent supporter and candidate of Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi has failed screening for the position of Deputy National Secretary of APC in Abuja for lack of, and failure to present his certificates.
It was gathered that, Hon. Victor Giadom, after been screened out by the convention committee today, drove straight to Amaechi’s house in Abuja for a possible way out. It will interest you to know that Victor Giadom is the incumbent Deputy National Secretary of the APC who was nominated by Amaechi to take over from Hon Oji Ngofa who relinquished the position over a year ago to accept an ambassadorial appointment from President Buhari.
Conversely, Victor Giadom has been under cover, protected and shielded by national power players and leaders of APC in Rivers State for four years in office without certificates. Though, his warrant for recontesting it is because the position is still zoned back to the South-South region and Rivers State to be precise, which Rotimi Amaechi assured him of another shield from certificate presentation during his screening but reverse is now the case.
Report has it that Giadom’s current contender for the same position of the Deputy National Secretary, Dr. Mike Nwielaghi who hails from Rivers State, has been successfully screened and cleared by the convention screening committee. Dr. Mike Nwielaghi was cleared upon presentation of credentials, including his P. hD certificates.
Over a week ago, Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi invited Chief Dr. Mike Nwielaghi to his office in Abuja where he threatened him to withdraw his ambition to contest for the position of Deputy National Secretary of the party on the ground that he already promised to bring back the ” certificateless” Victor Giadom for the position.
It is understood that Chief Dr. Mike Nwielaghi told Amaechi to his face right in the Minister’s office in Abuja that he had gone far in his consultation and would never step down to someone like Victor Giadom who has no citation index.
It is now clear that Hon. Victor Giadom has been occupying the position of Deputy National Secretary of APC without certificates because Amaechi ceded it to him after Ngofa resigned. Victor Giadom hails from Gokana LGA of Rivers State. He was also the Commissioner for works under Rotimi Amaechi.
