Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe has been freed just minutes ago by the DSS.

His lawyers and associates are now at the DSS headquarters in Abuja processing the paperwork for his release.

Abaribe was arrested Friday morning in Abuja by the DSS (SSS) and has since been under detention for undisclosed reasons but which have been speculated to be related to his closeness to Nnamdi Kanu, the missing supreme leader of IPOB.

Earlier today, Abaribe had appeared before Justice Binta Murtala-Nyako to defend on his being a surety to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu who has not been seen since September last year when the army invaded his home and killed many innocent people.

Abaribe was escorted to Court by the DSS which immediately took him back to its headquarters after the hearing.

Members IPOB were in court in huge numbers to show solidarity with Abaribe and they demonstrated outside the court after the hearing, calling for his immediate release with placards and Biafran songs.

It will be recalled that IPOB and other groups had days ago issued statements condemning the arrest.

It was shortly after the court hearing that Abaribe’s lawyers received a phone call from DSS inviting them to come and process his release.

At the time of filing this report, Abaribe’s lawyers, Chukwuma Ume (SAN), Aloy Ejimakor and Ifeanyi Iboko and the Senator’s surety are said to be at the DSS office to formally get Senator Abaribe released to them.

Senator Abaribe is being released on an SSS administrative bond that requires him to produce any civil servant on the rank of a Director with residence in Abuja.
