The Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce has bagged an Excellence award as the ‘most innovative Chamber of Commerce in the south south region of Nigeria.
The award was presented to PHCCIMA by the Coalition of South South Chamber of Commerce Industry, Mines and Agriculture (FOSSCIMA) during the Elective Emergency General Meeting of group in Warri Delta state.
Presenting the award to the PHCCIMA President, Dr. Emi Membere-Otaji during the PHCCIMA Expanded Executive Council meeting held on Monday 25th June 2018 at the PHCCIMA Council Hall, Engr. Tony Nwogbo who represented PHCCIMA President at the event noted that the award was in recognition of PHCCIMA’s effort in taking up innovative and positive steps to increase system efficiency and innovative ideas that has positively affected businesses in the sub region.
Engr Nwogbo also disclosed that during the elective General Meeting PHCCIMA members were elected into positions of trust, even as the PHCCIMA President, Dr. Emi Membere-Otaji was elected 2nd Deputy President of FOSSCCIMA, Surv. Emmanuel Ogbonda elected the Vice Chairman Trade Fair Exhibition and Training, Mr. Tonye Membere-Otaji Vice President Youth Entrepreneurship and he, Engr. Tony Nwogbo himself elected Vice Chairman, Special Duties FOSSCCIMA.
Receiving the award the PHCCIMA President said, “We consider it an honour to be named the Most Innovative Chamber of Commerce in the South South, this is an evidence of our commitment and the reforms we have been implementing to create an environment that brings value to our membership and increase our visibility even beyond the south”, he said, adding that “the award serves as an impetus for everyone to continue in their stride towards repositioning the chamber for quality and efficient services that will impact on member businesses.
“I would like to dedicate this award to the great team at PHCCIMA, the Exco, Council and of course members of staff who jointly are making significant contributions to sustain innovations and practical performances that has inspired others.
The PHCCIMA Expanded Executive Council meeting was held with far reaching decision aimed at ensuring the continuous advancement of the chamber, adjudged to be the second largest chamber of commerce in the country, reached.
